Star Promo Video: Reach for the STAR

I feel that this video has the quick message needed in order to captivate the attention span of underclassmen, but at the same time not boring enough to prolong their annoyance of these videos. Also, it has a funny component by freezing the frames and it draws their attention to the video and the message being portrayed. Finally, it provides a good message with not too much information but just enough to get the point across.

Rough Draft Values Reflection

1) As a group we are trying to present the values of always giving a helping hand.
2) I think we have a good developed script with a multitude of shots in a particular scene. I also think that we have done a good job in resulting in good scenes to support our theme and the value we are trying to represent.
3) We still need to complete the rough draft if our video because we are having technical difficulties in regards to having our video play and stuff. Also, one of the cameras that we used was not returned so we didn’t have the opportunity to dump all our film into our computers. Nevertheless, we are working oin what we can and we are taking it step by step. For now, we have dumped the film that we have and then we have gotten the music to our film. After, we are going to try and work on our titles after we finish this reflection.
4) Since we won’t have this ready in time, when we do have it ready we would like to get feedback on our choice of sounds and if our scenes make sense and portray a message of sadness etc.
5) A challenge was definitely when we were filming because we had to resettle because of the BLT. The of course was the fact that we had to film when there was the same amount of light then before because we didn’t want it to look odd. Another was the fact that we had to change our script because we did not have access to the cafeteria. Last was obviously the camera issue that we did not have it with us and we are kind of freaking out but were managing little by little.

Over The Shoulder Video

Well since we had to edit Cody's and Bree's shots because ours got lost on the tape we found some errors in their films but I think we still got the feel of the editing and we learned quite a bit from the shots. However we did learn that it takes some preparation and we have to know where to position the cameras so that they were accurate and done the right way in accordance with out over the shoulder exercise. For example we had to make sure that the cameras were not filming any shadows and that they were placed over the shoulder adequately and high enough as well. Also we made sure to include the back of the head covering about 1/3 of the screen while at the same time making sure to have a rule of thirds angle positioned on the speaking individual. According to Bree's video we realize that they did not place their shot at rule of thirds and the back of the head was not positioned good either because on the far right side you could see what was going on in the background as well. The impressions that are caused by this shot is more of a smooth conversation and I would say it draws you into the conversation as if to know what’s going to happen next. I almost am willing to call it the nosey shot because it focuses on what the two people are saying back and forth to each other. The dialogue looks rather realistic. It is not perfect but I don’t think it is too bad either. The thing that was hard to edit was the handshake because that seemed very unrealistic but i thought our edits were not too bad because i felt that it had a certain consistency and flow. I think the main mood established is done so really well by Bree's inquisitive nature and Cody's more upbringing reactions. One thing that was missing in our video was an emotional reaction without words because they didn’t include it in there but had we had it, it would have probably been in between the two "enough". I learned more on how to keep the natural flow of a conversation with nice clean short shots back and forth between two people and how a transition between shots is not good at all because it messes up the whole purpose of it. One last thing is that we had to add words in between two shots because that shot was also missing.

Reflection On Holiday Video

1. Personally, I liked our video despite the time we had to work on it. I wished we could have dedicated more time to it but all in all it came out really good especially after hearing the comments made by the class. I thought that our choice of music was really good and especially in the OMISOKA commercial because it added a very serene sort of vibe to the whole video. As for the pictures, i agree with Cody, it added a nice contrats and i think it engulfed our audience more into the video. However, our edits were not the best and i wish we could have perfected them more and an example is when you catch me and estefania off guard in the Iroquois Ceremony video around half way through. In terms of creativity i also think it was pretty good and liked how me and my partners chemistry showed because it sounded like we were having a conversation as opposed to reading a script.
2. Something i really liked was in Cristables video, her music. i thought the music was really good and it brought a very positive and up feeling to her video that i think would have been nice to incorporate in our video. I also liked that people brought props to their video and i felt thsat that emphasized the creativity of their video and if we were to have done that then our message would have come out more clearly.
3. I specifically, chose the music for both videos with consent of estefania, of course, but i was the one in charge of getting the music and seeing what was needed and which one would fit more accurately depending on the flow of our video.
4. I think we did a really good job oif working toghether because we pretty much seperated the video and we each did half of the work at all times. We also agreed on about everything all the time. However my partner helped me with the greenscreen because i had forgotten some things but she remnindeed me how tyo do them and thats how we pulled through. Actually, i have to admit that she did almost all the editing and the greenscreen editing too. But by her doing that she showed me and refreshed my memory on how to perform the edits and the greenscreen.
5. I think that we would p[ractice our script more to the point where we could memorize it, that way we would not have to edit or cut any parts of the script and thus it would not be evident that we did cuts and we would not be jumping around in the video. I think this would also allow more flow to the video and add to its smoothness. Also, i would have liked to experiment more with the titles and do one in after effects because i really liked how Kayla did their title and it added to the fun of this project. Not only that but it would give us more experience on using after effects and it would go nicely along, complimentary to the video.
